Birthday Boy!

I can't even begin to say how much I love this boy.

He pretty much dazzles me with his cuteness. Let me try to explain by telling you some of the things he says and does.
-He will frequently compliment others all on his own by saying, "Nice socks, Mom!" or "Nice tie, Dad!" It always comes in that format and is always so appreciated :).
-Throughout the day he'll ask me, "Watcha doonin, Mom?" or "Where gonin, Mom?" I hope he says it like that for at least a year.
-Whenever he sees a pile of something soft (pillows, clothes, blankets), he will throw himself atop it. Or jump from the couch onto it. It is pretty much his favorite game.
-He has to buckle the top buckle of his car seat all by himself or he'll get quite upset. And he says "buckle up" like "bup-up!"
-Bread with butter and honey is still his favorite food and we still wake up to his request for "Honey bread!"
-He almost always remembers to say thank you on his own. Such a polite boy! And he says "'scuse you!" when he bumps into you :).
-If I ask him to do something he'll respond, "Shoah" (sure).
-He still sleeps in the closet (that's my best parenting tip ever, by the way) in a pack n' play. When we put him down for bed he has to have a whole list of items: his "Mom cow," his "Dad cow," his horse, his blue car, his puppy, and a few other things just may be on his requested list. We're trying to limit it because it is getting out of control!
-He still calls Violet, "Vobby," and his jammies his "wammies."
-He loves to shout "I'm happy!" at the top of his lungs over and over again
-He has to point out all the colors of all the cars we drive by. And you have to give him verbal affirmation that you agree or he will keep saying it over and over again. "Red car, Mom!" "Blue car, Mom!" Black car, Mom!" It never gets old to him.
-He loves to snuggle when he wakes up in the morning and after his nap. I love it.
-Today he blamed his stinky smell on Violet. We asked him if he was poopy, and he said no. We asked him if he had gas, and he said, "No, Vobby did!" I'm sure this will happen for the next sixteen years or so... :). Turns out, he was poopy, in case you were curious.
-His favorite toys are still his horse and cow, but his interest in cars has grown.
-His favorite movie is The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. We watch it on YouTube because I'm cheap like that.
-His favorite books are The Train that Ran Away and When the Rooster Crowed. Both have farm animals in them.
-His favorite song is "The Wise Man Built His House upon the Rock" and he frequently requests it in the car or at bedtime.

He loved blowing out the candles and wanted to do it repeatedly :).

To celebrate his 2-yr-old birthday, we went to Olive Garden for a late lunch (had to use a gift card that was expiring today!). He loooooved their Mac n' Cheese so it turned out to be a good choice. Then we went to the playground while Dan went and bought some pants at the Banana Republic Outlet sale. Then we came home and made some Nutella Swirl Cheesecake Bars for his cake, ate it, and opened presents!

We are so glad he is a part of our family!

  1. Isn't it amazing that our babies are 2! I remember a long time ago you did a post about a sling thing that you used for a baby carrier. Could you send me some details about that? Also, We are trying to plan a 24th(ish) of July get together with the Andersen cousins. It would be at Joseph Andersen's just outside of DC. If your interested in coming up for that, you could stay the night here if you'd like. I'll send you details as we get them if that is something you'd like to join us all for.
