Home Alone 1

Okay, I'm not home alone--I have Violet. Dan is at Scout Camp right now, so I get to use this to prepare for when he goes to Mexico and leaves us for 16 days.

The saddest part of this short separation is the fact that Violet doesn't understand why Daddy is gone. The other times when he has been gone she was surrounded by grandparents, uncles, cousins, and aunts, aunts, aunts to keep her company and distract her. This time it is just Mommy.

When it was time for her to say her prayers last night she asked where he is. "Daddy?" She is used to having both of us there to help her say her prayers and tuck her in. And Dan always sings her a song right before we leave her room.

This morning she ran into my bedroom to climb in bed with me. "Daddy buh-bye?" She asked. He usually snuggles with her in the morning before we get up and get our day going.

And while I do secretly like having so much room in the bed to stretch out (okay, so it's not a secret now), we sure miss having Dan here to talk with us and make us laugh (and take out the trash). Enjoy an extra s'more for me, honey.

  2. Yeah, I hate it too when Mike has to go places without us. Cameron is finally to the point where he understands, but none of us like it when daddy's gone.

  3. It is nice sometimes getting to sleep in the middle of the bed. I openly admit that.

We're going to the nature museum and maybe the zoo tomorrow, if you want to come. I can get you in for free.

  5. So sweet/sad! When Zach is gone Addie can't voice or show that she cares that he's gone. She's so excited to see him when he comes home, but when he's gone she's okay...for now. That'll be sad when she's to the point that Violet's at. But I bet she's so happy when Dan comes home!
